Bitdefender Virus Scanner App Reviews

It is the best on the app store, trailed by Dr. Web and Kaspersky, but its dissapointing that there are so few good programs on the app store as far as antivirus goes. Use this one for now until someone releases something decent.

I downloaded this antivirus after reading reviews on it. It downloaded easily enough. Updated the signatures easy enough. Then when I tried to scan anything on my computer it would start up and then freeze 30 seconds later stuck on a file it was scanning. Did the same thing EVERY time. Froze my computer for a long time before I could even force quit. If you value your time and your sanity, don’t use this antivirus.

Had a trojan which this identified but was unable to remove. Whats the point of showing me the problem if the program is useless to fix it. Used avast which took almost a day to scan and now no more problems.

My iMac had the Macshop malware and even though I knew it was on my computer (ads in every browser window…) I ran BitDefender to see if it could remove it and it couldn’t find it. It said my Mac was clean. Ok. I had to do a few extra steps (get a script and delete folders manually) to get the malware out and it’s now gone but no thanks to BitDefender. Worthless.

Worked very well on my iMac. Got rid of all the adware in 25 minutes. Not to mention, I do have a 64 bit system.

Its not perfect but it does help alot and if you arent willing to invest money into antivirus software then this is the best you are going to get.

Took a bit of time to figure it out, but when I updated the viruses and scan, it wasn’t able to eliminate all the viruses. So I viewed them in the finder and put them in the garbage. I had to find them in the activity monitor and close them before I could empty the garbage. Eliminated a pop up system for publicity (mackeeper) that I had for weeks!. Thanks!

Bitdefender is a great program Id reccomend it to all people looking for a free app. Iv never had an issue using their paid or free programs.

I like it. It is simple to use. It’s free too. :)

for some reason this app requires access to the key chain. If it does not receive access it will not run.

Not worth the Money! Failed to locate the issue. I was then able to have removed with a free program online. This is junk! Save your money

The free version only scans your computer, once that is done you are prompted to buy the full version to remove threats. The full version costs $30-$60 (Canadian) depending on the version.

Independent of your preferences, this software WILL delete items without asking or offering alternative options. They may think it’s a feature — I do not, so be advised.

I have to agree with the first review written by "Zanninu" It works the first time,like most of these free scanners.In my opinion the best way to keep your memory clean is to stay away from downloading all these "free" things. I had mine for about a year and since my first scan it didnt detect a single "Ebola"cell or anything else. A waste of time. Advertised on an Apple page that in my books (without using profanity or overtly sexual language) lost its credit since the introduction of Maveric. Read the reviews . I do.

It did detect viruses or potential viruses/malware… and got rid of them. But it seemed to stop short of one particular malware, that keeps popping up for me. So I’m undecided about it at the moment.

Great Free Virus Scanner. It is standalone app so it does not decrease performance of your Mac. So it is AV on Demand. Of course you can set auto scan. You scan whenever you like. BitDefender is quite good AV in tests, and has some technology. It is Free and very good. Good GUI and very clear. Nice Scan Running Applications feature. I recommend this App !. For me great solution.

The app works well and there were no major hassles. Its user interface conforms to Apple standard UI. So, this gave a more polished user experience. I ran a deep scan. Bitdefender did find some windows viruses in some old email attachments on my computer. I deleted them and rebooted. Ran the check again after deleting old attachments and no problems detected. The program did a variety of actions to quarenteen questionable files found and provided easy access to the location of suspect files in the finder. Appears to work. The program downloaded the latest virus definitions without a problem. Giving app 5 stars. Not a pumper.
